stupid hotness
okay, so i know that it's hot, right? and i know that no one likes the heat--BUT i think i hate it more than most. please allow me to explain:
in NYC, it is close to 100 degrees. i am a teacher. i work in a high school with NO AIR CONDITIONING!! this is obviously a problem, but let me tell you WHY this is a problem.
1. on the news, every weatherperson and newscaster points out how hot it is and says "be sure to stay inside in air conditioning" or something to that effect. Even the freakin' mayor will say stuff like that when it gets hot enough in NYC. yet, i do not get to do this, for my school SUCKS! many other schools suck too.
2. if i worked in an animal shelter and tempatures inside the shelter reached to 100 plus degrees like they do in my classroom, people would totally freaked out. yet, it is perfectly okay for children to suffer worse than unwanted animals?
3. i work in a vocational school. we have certification available in auto repair, carpentry, plumbing and something called HVAC--that stands for Heating, Ventilation and --get ready for this--AIR CONDITIONING!! That's right, i work in a school that can create and fix air conditioners, yet we can't get it in our building!!
How is it that schools--probably the most important places in America--cannot provide its students with proper, humane conditions to work in? AAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!

I didn't even read your post yet... but you have to read this one. It made me laugh... out loud.
Now that I read your post, I can comment on it.
You are so right! Then again, schools also have some sort of law that they don't have to use heat until, like, October 23rd or some asinine date like that. Even if it's 10 degrees outside on October 19th, they will conserve the almighty tax dollar and let the kids freeze. Again, they don't make sense!
Why is it that you women are always complaining about the temperature? If you had A/C in your school you would probably be complaining about it being too cold and wearing a sweater in the middle of the summer.

trust me, EVERYONE, regardless of sex, complains about the temperature of my building!
Dave's sister had prom and they had the lunch room set up for photos. Nothing is hotter (pun intended) than girls with their hair up and pit stains for photos. Those poor kids in the tuxes!
